Unibep with a contract worth PLN 885.7 million within the consortium

PLN 885.7 million net this is the value of the agreement signed by the consortium led by Unibep with PGE Energia Ciepła. This is the largest contract in the history of Unibep’s Power construction segment.

The consortium comprising Unibep (leader) and SBB Energy from Opole will first construct a gas-fuelled cogeneration plant based on a gas engine system for PGE Energia Ciepła Branch No. 1 in Kraków and will then provide its maintenance. The total value of the contract is approx. PLN 885.7 million net, of which around PLN 589.7 million net is allocated to Unibep. The consortium’s remuneration for the execution of the basic scope amounts to approx. PLN 515.5 million net, of which Unibep’s share is approx. PLN 296.2 million net. The consortium’s remuneration for the execution of the optional scope, which may be commissioned by the investor, amounts to approx. PLN 260.3 million net, of which around PLN 183.7 million net is allocated to Unibep.

“The investment involves design and construction works aimed at delivering a gas-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant based on cogeneration units. These are sets of generating equipment and engine-adjacent installations, which include a gas combustion engine with an air compressor and a generator. The system is complemented by fuel supply, power output, and exhaust gas discharge installations. In addition, the investment includes installations and exchangers for heat recovery and dissipation, as well as all necessary fittings and metering systems. After the installation is completed, maintenance services are planned to ensure the proper functioning of the gas engines and their achievement of the guaranteed technical parameters,” explained Anna Michalska, Director of the Power Construction Tender Department at Unibep.

This is the largest contract in the history of Unibep’s energy construction segment.

“Thank you for your trust! Unibep is consistently pursuing its strategy of diversifying its backlog of orders, including the development of the company’s power construction segment. The contract with PGE for the construction of a cogeneration plant in Kraków is currently our largest energy sector contract, but not the only one. At the same time, among others, we are managing a similar contract — the construction of a cogeneration system at the combined heat and power plant in Elbląg. We approach all our construction projects with the utmost care. We prioritise efficient execution and partnership relations with investors,” said Ewelina Karp-Kręglicka, Member of the Management Board of Unibep, Technical and Development Director of the company.

Power construction is the youngest construction segment within Unibep, established at the end of 2021. Since then, the company from Bielsk Podlaski has been actively involved in the transformation of the Polish energy sector towards a zero- and low-emission economy. The activities of this segment focus on the principles of the green economy, including, among others, cogeneration installations, gas boiler rooms, and district heating systems. The company also undertakes projects related to the conversion and modernisation of existing coal-fired systems towards low-emission configurations.

“We are confident that this segment will develop dynamically because investors’ needs are very ambitious. This applies, among others, to Orlen, PGE, and other major players in the market. We are fully prepared in terms of staff and competencies to carry out ambitious projects in the broadly understood field of energy transition,” assured Andrzej Sterczyński, President of the Management Board of Unibep.
