Unibep is set to build a PLN 238 million road along the Polish-Belarusian border

Unibep has signed an agreement with the Border Guard to build a road along the Polish-Belarusian border. The agreement value is approx. PLN 238 million net.

The road is intended to improve the mobility of border protection services along the barrier, which was built in 2022, partly by Unibep. The road will span approx. 180 kilometres. Most of it will be asphalt, but in the Białowieża Forest area it will be made of aggregate to preserve the forest’s natural character. Its construction is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.

“Three years ago, we completed an 80-kilometre section of the barrier, which demonstrates our experience in carrying out this type of contract. This project allowed us to gain advanced expertise in managing infrastructure investments of a special nature. Owing to this, we are fully prepared to undertake further demanding projects of this kind,” said Adam Poliński, Vice President of the Management Board of Unibep and Infrastructure Director.

This is another agreement of Unibep with uniformed services in the defence sector. The company from Bielsk Podlaski has built, among others, a warehouse for the 18th Logistic Regiment in Łomża and the NSM Missile Rockets Production and Service Centre in Zielonka. It is currently constructing a new military unit in Czarna Białostocka, buildings for the DZSW subunit in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, and three barracks buildings along with a canteen within the Powidz Garrison.

“It is a positive signal for the market that a company with Polish capital is carrying out investments for the Polish military and uniformed services. This is about responsibility and trust during the implementation period of the project, as well as the readiness to provide maintenance after its handover,” added Andrzej Sterczyński, President of the Management Board of Unibep SA. “Such an investment involves not only the construction of the road but also maintenance activities, which are definitely better performed by a company long established in the local market, such as Unibep.”

The President emphasises that the broadly understood Polish sector of defence is one of Unibep’s priorities for the coming years. “Government announcements, as well as the geopolitical situation, mean that in the coming years we can expect numerous investments in the broadly understood defence sector — ranging from the ‘Eastern Shield’ program, through the construction or expansion of military units and shelters, to the modernisation of existing resources of the Ministry of National Defence and other services, including Civil Defence. Unibep has the expertise and experience to actively participate in the long-term investment processes of the Polish army, other uniformed services, and institutions cooperating with them,” added President Sterczyński.
